About

Hey there. I’m Daniel. I’m a recovering self-promoter re-learning how to love people for the rich and amazing qualities God created in them. I’ve spent enough of my life promoting myself, trying to “get ahead.” Despite a probably undeserved meteoric rise in the SEO industry, I found myself feeling more and more empty, the more I presented myself as an “expert.” The truth is, God made me to know and love people, not just to connive ways to sell them on my services.

In order to know me, you have to know the things that I love. Well, technically you also need to know the things that I hate, but we’ll save that for later. I narrowed the list to a manageable size. Maybe we have something in common.

Things that I love:

  • my family
  • real people
  • brokenhearted people
  • the presence of God
  • a person singing their deepest hurts / desires
  • moleskine journals
  • starbucks
  • macbook pro laptops
  • fivefingers
  • mavi jeans
  • starchy foods
  • dairy (butter, cheese, cream, yogurt, milk)
  • dallas cowboys
  • dallas mavericks

History

I (Daniel Dessinger) grew up in Bedford, Texas, a small town between Dallas and Fort Worth. Just before my 19th birthday, I had a supernatural encounter that led me to Jesus. I was so amazed and grateful that Jesus delivered me from the worst trouble of my life. I couldn’t help but give my heart and the rest of my life to Him. I rejoined the church I’d grown up in as a child. Shortly after, God led me to take part in a church-based school of discipleship, which helped me to establish a Christ-like foundation in my life.

Education

As an unsaved teen, I went through three schools my senior year before dropping out. It wasn’t a matter of grades, but rather attendance. I got my GED and later tried community college, which I also dropped out of my first semester.

After meeting Jesus and attending the school of discipleship, I attended two local community colleges before transferring to Dallas Baptist University to major in English. While at DBU, I joined the campus Pew Honor Society and was President of the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society. I spent one semester abroad studying literature, art, and philosophy in Copenhagen, Denmark before graduating with an BA in English from DBU.

Writing

I am a writer at heart, who found an entrance into web marketing shortly after college. I own more blogs than I can adequately manage. My interests are diverse. Web marketing has taken me on a lengthy sabbatical from “writing”, and I long to return to writing for writing’s sake in the near future. In the meantime, I’ve developed a reputation in the Dallas / Fort Worth area as a leading web marketing consultant.

Some of my favorite authors include Kris Valloton, Bill Johnson, Robert Jordan, C. S. Lewis, Shakespeare, T. S. Eliot, Lord Byron, John Keats, Wallace Stevens, Anne Tyler, Barbara Kingsolver, Walker Percy, Hans Christian Anderson, Soren Kierkegaard, Rene Descartes, and St. Augustine.

Career

I joined MarketNet in 2008 to become their senior search specialist. I’ve been an active member of DFW Interactive Marketing Association (DFWIMA) and DFW Search Engine Marketing Association (DFWSEM), though time doesn’t permit me to attend as often anymore. When time allows, I teach corporate executives, small business owners, and employees about the benefits and best practices of blogging, social media marketing, SEO, and reputation management.

At home, I spend most of my time with my wife and daughter. Family comes first, which is why I’m very selective about side projects.

Ministry

I currently serve on the prophetic ministry teams at Wellspring Church (Dr. Jack Deere is pastor). I love seeing people’s hearts melt when they experience the love of the Father through words of knowledge, words of wisdom, and prophetic utterances. It brings great joy to my heart.

About Daniel

I love hearing people share their hearts, their hurts, and their passions. In a culture where most people seem to focus on how to "win", I'm much happier connecting with people who are hungry for real friendship connections. Life is too short to focus on making money. I want to know people.
